Tom is the local building official, responsible for enforcing Clyde's historic preservation law, etc. An amateur historian and military history buff, Tom has extensively researched the Blockhouse history and has worked to promote the site as a regional attraction.

The Friends of the Clyde Blockhouse are an informal group of area residents and community leaders who are interested in the history of the Blockhouse Historic Site and preservation of the replica Blockhouse, as well as making improvements to Blockhouse Park.
