The Mason Blockhouse

In about 1830, during the Morgan Affair and Anti-Masonic Movement, an old house was used by the Masons as refuge from a stone-throwing mob. In anticipation of trouble, the house had been barricaded, with loopholes cut in the walls. This fortified house was someplace on the west side of the Village. It was the last defensive structure put to use in Clyde.
